Hintergrund von SerpinA6 Antikörper

The serpin peptidase inhibitor, clade A, member 6 (SerpinA6), also known as corticosteroid-binding globulin or CBG, is a member of Serpin (Serine Protease Inhibitors) superfamily. The superfamily of serine protease inhibitors (SERPINs) plays a key role in controlling the activity of proteinases in diverse biological processes. SerpinA6 is specifically cleaved by this protease at a precise site close to its carboxy-terminus. This induces a conformation change and disrupts the binding between glucocorticoids and SerpinA6, and promotes a significant and local release of glucocorticoids (over 90% of them are bound to SerpinA6 in human plasma). In this context, SerpinA6 directs glucocorticoids to sites of inflammation, and plays in consequence a crucial role in efficient glucocorticoid action in physiology. As a specific high-affinity plasma transport glycoprotein for cortisol. Stress-induced falls in CBG levels may heighten hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis responses and CBG. The tissue interactions may allow targeted cortisol delivery. Three genetic variants of CBG have been identified that reduce cortisol binding affinity and/or CBG levels. SerpinA6 deficiency is an extremely rare hereditary disorder characterized by reduced corticosteroid-binding capacity with normal or low plasma corticosteroid-binding globulin concentration, and normal or low basal cortisol levels associated with hypo-/hypertension and muscle fatigue. SerpinA6/CBG is the major transport protein for glucocorticoids and progestins in the blood of most vertebrates, and may involved in obesity and stress sensitivity.
