Molecular Mass	The secreted recombinant mouse TWSG1 comprises 209 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 23.6kDa. As a result of glycosylation, the apparent molecular mass of the recombinant protein is approximately 34 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.
Formulation	Lyophilized from 0.2μm filtered solution of PBS, pH7.4. Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose and mannitol are added as protectants before lyophilization. Specific concentrations are included in the hardcopy of COA.

Beschreibung von TWSG1 Protein

TWSG1 is a member of the twisted gastrulation protein family. Expression of TWSG1 is found throughout mouse and human development. Overexpression of TWSG1 in transgenic mice under the control of the cartilage-specific promoter significantly reduces collagen type 10 expression in the growth plates of transgenic embryos. TWSG1 is a secreted binding protein for various bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP). Depending upon the circumstances it may function as a bone morphogenetic protein signalling agonist or antagonize these activities. TWSG1 can dislodge latent bone morphogenetic proteins and thus provides a permissive signal that allows high BMP signaling in the embryo. Activities of TWSG1 and complexed bone morphogenetic proteins are influenced also by binding of another regulatory protein, BMPER, which may function to concentrate diffusible complexes between TWSG1 and bone morphogenetic proteins. TWSG1 may be involved in dorsoventral axis formation. It seems to antagonize BMP signaling by forming ternary complexes with CHRD and BMPs, thereby preventing BMPs from binding to their receptors.
