Preparation

Produced in rabbits immunized with purified, recombinant Human IL-28B / IFN-lambda-3 (rh IL-28B / IFN-lambda-3; Catalog#11890-H08H; NP_742151.2; Met 1-Val 196). IL-28B / IFN-lambda-3 specific IgG was purified by Human IL-28B / IFN-lambda-3 affinity chromatography.

Specificity

Human IL-28B / IFN-lambda-3

Western blot This antibody can be used at 0.1-0.2 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Human IL28B in WB. Using a DAB detection system, the detection limit for Human IL28B is approximately 0.5 ng/lane under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions.
Direct ELISA This antibody can be used at 0.1-0.2 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Human IL28B. The detection limit for Human IL28B is approximately 0.039 ng/well.
Storage This antibody can be stored at 2℃-8℃ for one month without detectable loss of activity. Antibody products are stable for twelve months from date of receipt when stored at -20℃ to -70℃. Preservative-Free.
Sodium azide is recommended to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%-0.1%). It is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Interleukin-28B, also known as IL-28B, Cytokine Zcyto22, Interferon lambda-3, Interferon lambda-4, Interleukin-28C, IL28B and IFNL3, is a secreted protein which belongs to theIL-28/IL-29 family. Interleukin-28B / IL28B is a cytokine with immunomodulatory activity. It up-regulates MHC class I antigen expression. Interleukin-28B / IL28B displays potent antiviral activity. It also displays antitumor activity. Ligand for the heterodimeric class II cytokine receptor composed of IL10RB and IL28RA. The ligand/receptor complex seems to signal through the Jak-STAT pathway. IL28B contributes to viral resistance and is known to be upregulated by interferons and by RNA virus infection. Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection is spontaneously resolved in about 30% of acutely infected individuals. In those who progress to chronic hepatitis C, HCV therapy permanently eradicates infection in about 40% of cases. It has long been suspected that host genetic factors are key determinants for the control of HCV infection. Genetic variation in Interleukin-28B / IL28B is the strongest predictor for the control of HCV infection. Importantly, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in IL28B strongly predicted both spontaneous and treatment-induced HCV recovery.
