Beschreibung von DPP7 / DPPII Protein

DPP7(dipeptidylpeptidase 7, Histidine-tagged), also known as DPPII is a post-proline cleaving aminopeptidase. It is expressed in quiescent lymphocytes. DPP7 has strong sequence homology with prolylcarboxypeptidase and is active at both acidic and neutral pH. It localizes to lysosomes. Its optimum pH is 5.5 and has low activity at pH 7 and is inactive at pH 8. The resting lymphocytes are maintained through suppression of apoptosis, a state which is disrupted by inhibition of this novel serine protease. DPP7 plays an important role in the degradation of some oligopeptides and is essential for lymphocyte survival, as the inhibition of DPP7 results in quiescent cell apoptosis. In response to calcium release, it can be secreted in its active form. It exists as a homodimer via its leucine zipper motif and is involved in the degradation of oligopeptides.
