Molecular Mass The recombinant rat NINJ1/Fc chimera is a disulfide-linked homodimeric protein. The reduced monomer consists of 340 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 37 kDa. In SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, the apparent molecular mass of rat NINJ1/Fc monomer is approximately 50 kDa due to glycosylation.
Formulation Lyophilized from 0.2μm filtered solution of PBS, pH7.4.
  1. Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose and mannitol are added as protectants before lyophilization. Specific concentrations are included in the hardcopy of COA.

Beschreibung von NINJURIN / Ninjurin-1 / NINJ1 Protein

NEIL1 belongs to the DNA glycosylases family. DNA glycosylases are enzymes that participates in the DNA repair pathway by initiating base excision repair by removing damaged bases, primarily oxidized pyrimidines. They initiate the first step in base excision repair by cleaving bases damaged by reactive oxygen species and introducing a DNA strand break via the associated lyase reaction. NEIL1 acts as DNA glycosylase that recognizes and removes damaged bases. It has a preference for oxidized pyrimidines, such as thymine glycol, formamidopyrimidine (Fapy) and 5-hydroxyuracil. NEIL1 also has marginal activity towards 8-oxoguanine and AP (apurinic/apyrimidinic) lyase activity and introduces nicks in the DNA strand. It cleaves the DNA backbone by beta-delta elimination to generate a single-strand break at the site of the removed base with both 3'- and 5'-phosphates. NEIL1 has DNA glycosylase/lyase activity towards mismatched uracil and thymine, in particular in U:C and T:C mismatches.
