Specificity	Human CD166 / ALCAM
Western blot	This antibody can be used at 0.1-0.2 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Human ALCAM in WB. Using a DAB detection system, the detection limit for Human ALCAM is approximately 1 ng/lane under non-reducing conditions and 2 ng/lane under reducing conditions.
Direct ELISA	This antibody can be used at 0.1-0.2 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Human ALCAM. The detection limit for Human ALCAM is approximately 0.00245 ng/well.
Storage	This antibody can be stored at 2℃-8℃ for one month without detectable loss of activity. Antibody products are stable for twelve months from date of receipt when stored at -20℃ to -70℃. Preservative-Free. Sodium azide is recommended to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%-0.1%). It is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

ALCAM (activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule) is a type I membrane glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is also known as CD166, MEMD, SC-1/DM-GRASP in the chicken, and KG-CAM in the rat. ALCAM / CD166 has five extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains which facilitates heterophilic (ALCAM-CD6) and homophilic (ALCAM-ALCAM) cell-cell interactions. While expressed in a wide variety of tissues and cells, ALCAM is restricted to subsets of cells usually involved in dynamic growth and / or migration processes. ALCAM is highly associated not only with embryonic hematopoiesis but also vasculoangiogenesis. ALCAM can bind itself homotypically and is also capable of binding CD6, NgCAM, and other unidentified brain proteins, and thus is Involved in neurite extension by neurons via heterophilic and homophilic manners. ALCAM / CD6 interaction plays a role in T cell development and T cell regulation, as well as in the binding of T- cells and B-cells to activated leukocytes. Further, ALCAM has also been observed to be upregulated on highly metastasizing melanoma cell lines, suggesting a role in tumor migration.
